The Rotary Club of Newport News toured the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank on September 26, 2023 and presented a total of $2,100 to fight against hunger. The Club conducted a “Feeding Our Community” online campaign in addition to donations collected at meetings. The tour confirmed the need for funds as the need to feed the community grows and donations have declined.
The Foodbank does remarkable work with community partners to provide not only food; they also provide a Culinary Training Program for adults 12 weeks during the year and 10 weeks in the summer. Other items such as cleaning products, over the counter health and beauty products, unexpired over the counter medication, paper products, animal products and diapers are donated on a regular basis.
