On July 19th, District Governor Kenny Janes inducted the newest president and board of directors. The Rotary Club of Newport News has a storied history as it was founded on August 1st, 1916. A list of all the past presidents can be found here. Tim Ryan, Executive Director of StartWheel and known as a “champion for entrepreneurship” for Hampton Roads will serve as the club’s president.

The board of directors is comprised of Patrick Murphrey, Sherri McQuillan, Mary Crowder, Sharyn Fox, Karen Wilds, Deloris Jones Thomas, Rick Elofson, Mike Fox, Tom Carlson, Travis Hall, David Seeley, Ken Bingman, Michael Shapiro and Woody Andrews.

District Governor Kenny Janes shared his Rotary story with the club and talked about this year’s Rotary theme. This year’s Rotary theme is “Imagine Rotary”. The meaning behind the theme is to imagine and “dream big”. Rotarians around the world are encouraged to imagine the possibilities and harness their connections and power to turn those dreams into reality and change the world for the better.
A first for Rotary, Jennifer Jones will serve as Rotary International’s first female president. Jennifer Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada.
